Wu Style Tai Chi & Qi Gong Forms We Teach

Wu Style Tai Chi

A graceful, compact style of Tai Chi Chuan, practised as a slow, flowing moving meditation to build balance, relaxation, strength and focus. Within Wu Style we teach:

  • Long Form (108 movements) — The traditional Wu Style hand form and the foundation of the whole system. It is practised slowly and without pause to build posture, rooting and relaxation, and to link breath with movement.
  • Sword Form (Tai Chi Jian) — The double-edged straight sword, known as the “gentleman of weapons”. It trains precision and lightness, and extends Qi all the way to the tip of the blade.
  • Push Hands (Tui Shou) — Partner practice that trains sensitivity and “listening” (Ting Jin), and the ability to yield and redirect force.

Wu Style Tai Chi lineage: Wu Quan You, Wu Jianquan, Wu Ying Hua and Ma Yue Liang, Dr Stephan Yan (Yan Zhi Jun), Gavin Storkey
